The work of Shy Robot Films is created by a collective of filmmakers and headed by director Danny McCarthy.
Danny McCarthy has split time creating commercial and creative work. He has worked in the commercial space as a producer, editor, and stop motion animator in advertising and marketing since 2009. He has worked with clients ranging from local mom and pops to international corporate clients. The goal always being to get the highest quality work out the limited time and resources we have, ideally with smiles on faces.
On the creative side, Danny has also written, produced, shot and directed his own short films as well as worked in various roles from grip to AD on others. In the feature world he has served as a location manager and on-screen talent. During his time in front of the camera, he has played a cop three separate times (Indie, TV, and Big Budget), as well as a hipster music reporter where he wore his own clothes as wardrobe. Being involved in creative work is an important part of his life as it not only allows personal expression, but it in turn affects his professional work.
The name Shy Robot originated from a comedy team sharing the same name. "Shy" used ironically vs. the teams extroverted attitude as well as a homonym for the city in which it originated. "Robot", comes from, well, a general soft spot for robots.
